SEVERAL priests were found to have hypertension, said a doctor who attended to emergency cases at the Second National Clergy Congress.
Two priests were rushed to a medical center Thursday after complaining of severe chest pains.
Dr. Ricardo Ledesma, head of the congress’ medical team, said his team attended to 105 priests last Monday, 233 last Tuesday and 233 consultations on Wednesday, with the most common complaints of hypertension.
“We were surprised to find so many cases of hypertension and heart problems from among our patients,” he said.
Ledesma said priests over 60 years old and those who have a history of heart ailments and hypertension should see them at the clinic before participating in the 1.5 kilometer procession from the World Trade Center in Manila to the Cuneta Astrodome for the closing liturgy.
