MANILA Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) urged candidates with excess funds in their election campaign contributions to just donate the money to the poor.
“I hope they donate it to the poor because that will be a big help,” Pabillo, chairman of the CBCP National Secretariat for Social Action Justice & Peace, said.
Pabillo said that although candidates have the right to do whatever they want with the money since they were given to them, he is still hoping that candidates, especially those who won in the May 10 polls, will put it to good use.
“I hope they use it in their governance. They now have the means to help the poor,” said Pabillo.
