TEACHERS expressed concern over the appointment of De La Salle University president Brother Armin Luistro as the new secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) chairman Antonio Tinio expressed skepticism over Luistro’s stand on the proposed sex education program of the government, saying that “given his religious orientation, the issue on the implementation of the sex education program will immediately put him to the test.”
Soon after he accepted the DepEd post, Luistro said he will review the sex education modules and assured the public that he will reconsider the implementation of the program.
“We have different definitions of sex education. I think the question that should be asked is not if you are in favor or not, but rather what kind of education should be given,” he said.
