CHURCHGOERS should remain calm and pray following a grenade attack on a church during Sunday Mass in Kalilangan town Bukidnon province in southern Philippines, Bishop Jose Cabantan of Malaybalay said on Monday.
Two people were reported wounded when the grenade exploded at the door of San Vicente Ferrer Parish church in Kalilangan town at around 8 a.m.
“I urge all the faithful in Bukidnon, especially in Kalilangan, to … not let this isolated incident sow tension and discord among Christians and Muslims here,” Bishop Cabantan said.
Bishop Cabantan says he is determined to continue interfaith dialogue that he opened last May and urged the faithful, especially the relatives of the wounded parishioners, to leave the law in the hands of the authorities and not to take justice into their own hands.
He said investigators are already following a lead.
