THE social action secretariat of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines is the latest group to criticize the show Willing Willie following the airing of the episode showing a 6-year-old boy simulating a striptease.
In a statement sent to members of the media, the CBCP’s National Secretariat for Social Action, Justice and Peace (NASSA) expressed its dismay over the episode aired last March 12.
“The management and host of the show brought shame not only to (the boy) and his parents but to media practitioners in general,” said Father Edwin Gariguez, NASSA executive secretary.
Appropriate intervention and assistance must also be given to the boy and his family, Father Gariguez said, quoting NASSA chairman Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo.
