TWO images that many say resemble Jesus’ images etched on two branches of a tree inside the Subic Bay Freeport are drawing hundreds of Catholics to the former US Naval Base north of Manila.
Devotees and tourists have been crowding outside 48 Finback Street in East Kalayaan, Subic Freeport, offering flowers and prayers, after news spread about the images.
The images, according to its caretaker, Henry Heneralo, appeared just before the Holy Week. He said the house is owned by businessman Pocholo Galian, owner of the Victory Liner bus company.
Heneralo said he has been working with the Galians for two years now.
“When I came here two years ago, those branches were already cut. But it is only before Holy Week that I saw the images,” Heneralo said in Tagalog.
He said Catholic priests and nuns have already visited the place. “They offered flowers, candles and prayers.”
Heneralo also noticed that crows that usually perched on the tree disappeared after the appearance of the images.
“I even fed the crows daily. There were about 30 or 40 of them. I don’t see a single one of them perched on that tree anymore,” he said. “I have never seen such a thing in my life.”
