ANOTHER priest is receiving threats since Fr. Fausto “Pops” Tentorio was killed in North Cotabato province on October 10.
Fr. Peter Geremia of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (Pime) said he has been receiving threats from people who are connected with mining.
“There are so many land problems, many threats against life,” Geremia said in a press conference of Justice for Fr. Pops Tentorio Movement Tuesday.
The threats coming from people who have links with mining is but the newest of the batch, he said.
He said he has been the target even before the death of another Italian missionary priest, Tulio Favali, who was slain in 1985, inside the cemetery at the Bishop’s Residence compound in Barangay Balindog.
He said there are those who insist that he is the one who organized the New People’s Army (NPA) in the area.
He dared these people to file charges in court instead of spreading such stories.
Meanwhile, Bro. Arvin Bellen said there has been no official statement from the Task Group Fausto on the progress of the investigation of Tentorio’s murder.
“The National Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice Task Force on Extrajudicial Killings already declared that they have the identity of the killer and that they will soon apprehend but we have not received any official statement from them,” he said.
