RURAL Missionaries of the Philippines (RMP) is a national organization of men and women religious, priests and lay people from various dioceses and congretations living with peasants in rural areas.
Founded by the Association of Major Women Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMWRSP) in 1969, this group of members from various dioceses and congregations commits to support peasants’ quest for justice, freedom, access to commons and genuine agrarian reform.
Registered with the government as a non-stock, non-profit corporation, RMP missionaries live with peasants, organize farmers, agricultural workers, rural women, fisher folk and indigenous people so they can be effective forces to work for their rights.
In the Northern Mindanao Region, RMP missionaries (RMP-NMR) are currently helping with relief operations for people affected by Typhoon Sendong (Washi). How are they doing this?
