A Catholic priest urged Filipinos around the world to support Filipino-Mexican singer Jessica Sanchez, one of the four remaining contestants in the reality singing competition “American Idol.”
Father Conegundo Garganta, executive secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Youth of the bishops’ conference, said he believes in the talent of the 16-year-old singer.
“With such talent, it’s only but proper for us to help and support her,” Garganta said. He noted that despite Sanchez’s age, “she’s faced with such a big challenge already.”
The priest said he is hoping that Sanchez’s experience in “American Idol” will inspire other aspiring singers.
“I hope this will open the door for other people to show their talent to the world,” Garganta said.
