President Aquino has signed Proclamation 488 declaring Oct. 26 a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid‚Äôl Adha or the Muslims‚Äô Feast of Sacrifice.
Under the proclamation signed by the President on Oct. 9, Republic Act 9849 or the law on regular holidays and nationwide special days provided that Eid‚Äôl Adha would be a regular or non-working holiday.
‚ÄėEid‚Äôl Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam. The date of the festival is based on the declaration made by Saudi Arabia‚Äôs highest religious body,‚ÄĚ the proclamation read.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended that the observance of the Eid‚Äôl Adha be on Oct. 26 and Eid‚Äôl Adha prayer be performed on the final declaration of the Saudi government. [More]
