Will RH approval legalize abortion?

Propaganda against the reproductive health bill has led to the argument that its passage would also mean approval of abortion. I find this absurd. It seems anti-RH advocates, having accepted the church dogma that reproductive health promotes abortion, now cry about the coming deaths of the unborn.

But the bill declares abortion as illegal. Once the RH bill becomes a law, abortion will continue to be illegal. Perhaps government should begin going after the real abortionists who continue to ply their trade.

What about the abortifacients? These refer to artificial contraceptives that anti-RH advocates argue kill life even before an ovum gets fertilized. I remember one sermon a long time ago. The priest said life is already present even before fertilization.

“Di ba buhi ang semilya sa lalaki? Molangoy kini padulong sa itlog sa babaye nga buhi usab (Is it not that the man’s semen is alive? It will swim to the woman’s egg, which is also alive?)?” I recall him saying. And I thought about the genocide being committed by mere male masturbation or wet dreams.

Still I salute congressmen who remained during that crucial session and voted yes or no. [More]

It is not ‘church dogma’ that ‘reproductive health promotes abortion’. It is the policy of the current administration of the USA as stated explicitly by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8rGPDItayI.

It is also UN policy: ‘Abortion must be made safely available to women under the law where continuing the pregnancy would put their health at risk, the UN rapporteur on the right to health has warned.’ This was stated by Anand Grover in Dublin two days ago at a Women’s Right to Health conference [http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2012/1218/1224327960438.html].
